Seek help if you think you are dealing with depression.

Depression is a real illness that affects a lot of people almost every day.  You may not be going through it but chances are that you may know someone that is living with depression.

Depression is a disabling disorder that is roughly affecting one in five women and one in ten men every day.  It is estimated that 21% of women and 12% of men in the U. S will experience depression at some point in their lifetime.

That is why you should do your best to help someone that may be dealing with this.  There are times in which we may feel sad or be moody about something but we are able to snap out of it.  A person living with depression, is unable to just snap out of it.  They try to put up a front by smiling like everything is ok, but deep down they may be dealing with a constant sadness or hopelessness.

Some symptoms of depression include: sadness, guilt, hopelessness, moodiness, angry outburst, suicidal thoughts, changes in appetite, weight loss and weight gain.  If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, seek help, talk to someone.  If someone you know is experiencing these feelings, talk to them, listen to them and help them get the help they need.  Depression is a very serious issue.

I’m not clinically depressed but people close to me have been diagnosed with this disease.  Some have been able to somewhat get back to who they were before the disease hit, but others are still fighting this monster every day.  And because of that it hurts to see the pain that they are going through, but they have not given up.  They are taking it one step at a time.
